Both teams were strong in the circle on Tuesday, but Lamar defeated La Junta 3-1. Carlin Weber started the game for Lamar and recorded 21 outs.
Lamar got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Chloe Weber doubled, and La Junta committed an error, each scoring one run.
A passed ball extended the Lamar lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the third inning.
Weber earned the win for Lamar. The pitcher gave up four hits and one run over seven innings, striking out nine and walking three. Isabella Aragon took the loss for La Junta. The starter went six innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on six hits, striking out six and walking one.
Khloe Fernandez, Weber, Braelinn Penaflor, Alexus Campbell, Annabelle Morales, and Weber each collected one hit for Lamar. Weber led Lamar with one run batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Lamar didn’t commit a single error in the field. Natalie Aguilar had the most chances in the field with 10.
Leadoff hitter Yliani Garcia led La Junta with three hits in four at bats. Garcia stole three bases. La Junta ran wild on the base paths, amassing five stolen bases for the game.
