Yliani Garcia collected three hits in three at bats, as La Junta defeated Limon 13-1 on Tuesday. Garcia singled in the second inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the fourth inning.
La Junta jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Isabelle Aragon drew a walk, scoring one run, and Ryanna Pineda grounded out, scoring two runs.
La Junta added one run in the second. Garcia singled, making the score 4-0.
La Junta scored five runs on zero hits in the bottom of the third inning. Pineda grounded out, scoring two runs, and a wild pitch scored three runs.
Aragon stepped in the circle first for La Junta. The starter gave up three hits and one run over four innings, striking out six and walking none. Jessa Book stepped in the circle first for Limon. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and six runs over two innings, striking out two and walking three.
Marlie Gonzales provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led La Junta with three runs batted in. Livia Smith collected two hits for in two at bats. Smith, Ayanna Torrez, and Garcia each stole multiple bases for La Junta. La Junta Varsity stole 13 bases in the game. La Junta were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Gonzales made the most plays with six.
Book went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Chloe Jaques, Book, and Audra Kollath each collected one hit for Limon.
