La Junta could not keep pace with Pueblo East 10-5 on Saturday.
A ground out by Triniti Pacheco put Pueblo East on the board in the top of the first.
La Junta captured the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the first when Ryanna Pineda singled, scoring two runs, and Madalyn Tafoya doubled, scoring one run.
Pueblo East took the lead in the top of the third inning after Dhani Maestas singled, and Lucianna Cervantes singled, each scoring two runs.
Bella Baca earned the win for Pueblo East. The starting pitcher allowed nine hits and five runs over six innings, striking out two and walking none. Livia Smith took the loss for La Junta. The reliever went two innings, surrendering four runs on three hits, striking out none and walking two. Isabelle Aragon started the game for La Junta. The righty allowed seven hits and six runs (five earned) over four innings, striking out two and walking two.
Pineda provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led La Junta with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Chloe Nunez, Smith, and Yliani Garcia each collected two hits for La Junta. Smith stole three bases.
La Junta ran wild on the base paths, collecting six stolen bases for the game. Pueblo East amassed 10 hits in the game. Isis Cervantes led Pueblo East with three hits in four at bats from the leadoff position. Pacheco went 2-for-4 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Pueblo East stole four bases in the game.
