La Junta lost to Pueblo Centennial 7-2 on Saturday.
Pueblo Centennial got on the board in the third inning after Angel Santos tripled, scoring one run.
Pueblo Centennial scored five runs on one hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. Kayli Smiley doubled, scoring two runs, and an error scored three runs.
Ellie Zinanti earned the win for Pueblo Centennial. The hurler allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out four and walking one. Livia Smith took the loss for La Junta. The pitcher went one inning, giving up zero runs on one hit, striking out none and walking none. Isabelle Aragon opened the game for La Junta. The starter gave up six hits and seven runs (four earned) over five innings, striking out six and walking five.
Yliani Garcia led La Junta with two hits in four at bats from the leadoff position. Natalya Herrera and Garcia each drove in one run for La Junta. La Junta had a strong eye at the plate, amassing five walks for the game. La Junta turned one double play in the game.
Smiley drove the middle of the lineup, leading Pueblo Centennial with two runs batted in. The left fielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Zinanti went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Pueblo Centennial in hits. Pueblo Centennial had patience at the plate, accumulating five walks for the game. Pueblo Centennial ran wild on the base paths, accumulating four stolen bases for the game.
