La Junta had trouble keeping up with Pueblo County in a 9-1 loss on Friday.
Pueblo County got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after La Junta committed an error, and Tylee Glenn stole home, each scoring one run.
Pueblo County added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Brooklyn Markus singled, scoring one run, and Mia Carrillo homered to right field, scoring two runs.
A home run to left field by Erin Garcia, a triple by Jaelyn Faris, and a line out by Glenn helped Pueblo County extend their early lead in the third.
Aubree Peralta earned the win for Pueblo County. The pitcher surrendered two hits and zero runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out two and walking none. Isabelle Aragon took the loss for La Junta. The pitcher went two innings, surrendering zero runs on zero hits, striking out two and walking one. Livia Smith stepped in the circle first for La Junta. The starting pitcher gave up seven hits and nine runs (five earned) over three innings, striking out none and walking two. M Parlett started in the circle for Pueblo County. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and one run over four innings, striking out two and walking three.
Ryanna Pineda, Madalyn Tafoya, Aragon, and Yliani Garcia each collected one hit for La Junta. Pineda led La Junta with one run batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Garcia stole two bases.
Faris and Markus each collected two hits for Pueblo County. Carrillo and Garcia each drove in two runs for Pueblo County. Faris and Glenn each stole multiple bases for Pueblo County. Pueblo County ran wild on the base paths, tallying seven stolen bases for the game. Pueblo County were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Glenn had the most chances in the field with nine.
